The World Cup Is Over. Hatch FC Isn't.

So that's it. The trophy's been lifted, the confetti's been swept up, and the World Cup that this site was built around has come and gone. It was a genuinely special few weeks — I got to write about a six-goal classic in Algeria, a Brazilian escape act in stoppage time, and Lionel Messi rewriting the record books, among a dozen other things I'll remember for a long time. Thank you for reading along.

But a blog that only exists for one tournament every four years is a pretty quiet place the other three years and eleven months. So Hatch FC isn't going anywhere — it's just changing what it covers.

What's changing

Starting now, this site follows the Premier League. That means live scores and a proper league table instead of group standings, a weekly-ish rhythm of recaps, previews, and hot takes instead of match-by-match tournament coverage, and — because a 38-game season doesn't have a knockout bracket the way a World Cup does — the bracket view is retired. If FA Cup or Champions League knockout football becomes worth covering here down the line, that's its own thing to build properly, not a leftover.

What's staying

Everything I wrote about the World Cup is staying up. Every recap, every preview, every hot take — none of it is going anywhere, it's just archive now instead of the front page. And the daily trivia game isn't changing either. It's built on World Cup history, not the 2026 tournament specifically, so it's just as good a way to kill five minutes in year two of this pivot as it is today.

What's new
